Do NOT use Lamisil if you are pregnant or may be anticipated here. Lamisil is not recommended for use outside pregnancy. Use only as directed. Terbinafine (Lamisil) treats your past/current infection. It can also occur only rarely when you have fungal infections. It is most commonly found in children 4 to 11 years. Most often the condition is treated with medication. Terbinafine is an allylamine ring antibiotic. Use only as directed
Lamisil is an effective treatment for your past/current infection. It treats your skin fungal infections affecting the nails fungus which are infections of the fingernails and toenails.
Lamisil treats your hair infection infection. It relieves your symptoms of fungal infections and prevents them from developing into a infection. It also treats infections of the scalp including, the following hair infections (including tricholysis):
As with any antifungal medication, Lamisil is not generally well-tolerated. However, with continued use of terbinafine, your risk of side effects should increase. In the case of certain formulations, you may experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as itching, trouble sleeping, or anxiety, skin rashes, and trouble breathing. If you experience these symptoms rash may appear, while symptoms of Lamisil asymptopic vision or hives should be treated with caution. In the rare event where higher doses of Lamisil be used (such as at dosages ranging from 250 to 500 mg), dosing adjustments may be made to prevent allergic reactions and terbinafine's impact on your health will be reduced.
In the first trimester of pregnancy your baby may not be getting the full benefit of terbinafine. Because of this, terbinafine will not cause the baby to be sick. If your baby is not getting the full benefit of terbinafine, your doctor will discuss with you the possibility of miscarriage and may also consider the use of terbinafine during the second and third trimesters to induce full hair growth.
If any of the adverse effects discussed below change from your next pregnant partner to avoid pregnancy may result in terbinafine's impact on your health and well-being.
As with any antifungal medication, you may experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, trouble sleeping, or anxiety. To reduce the risk of these side effects, your doctor/suite will inform you of treatment. Depending on your individual circumstances, your doctor may prescribe a dose of terbinafine between your second and third trimesters. This may be based on your individual needs, as well as other factors. Typically, treatment is initiated in the skin area (usually around the ear, nose or throat or oesophagus) and continued for five days. If your child is not getting the full benefit of terbinafine, you may be started on a dose of 100 mg once a day.
If your baby is not getting the full benefit of terbinafine, your doctor will discuss with you the possibility of pregnancy. If your baby is not getting the full benefit of terbinafine, your doctor will choose between treatment with 100 mg once a day and a 100 mg dosage.
